This reminds me in some ways of the work of Roald Dahl which is flattery of a kind! This is Not Real was created by
Gergely Wootsch as their graduation film from the Royal College of Art. It tells the story of a young boy (Charley) who lives a lonely existence but dreams of running away to the Himalayas. Does his dream come true? Watch this through to its startling conclusion to discover Charley’s fate.
I particularly liked the color schemes in this animated short – some great use of blue, black and white to give the world Charley lives in shape and form. The style of the drawing, too, is wonderful – reminiscent of the illustrations in a 1950s children’s magazine. This is a fantastic graduation film and bodes really well for the future!
