Adventures are the Pits

It is often the case – as Shakespeare well knew – that you can often get the most out of a story which is much ado about nothing, really. Such is the case with this colorful and exuberant animated short by Porter Vinson, who created this for his thesis project at the Ringling College of Art and Design.

You all know those ball pits in fast food restaurants and shopping malls, something to distract the kids for a few precious minutes while you try and compose yourself about just how much you have recently spent on next to nothing? Well, this takes one young boy’s adventure in the pit and shows us adults how it is imagined when you are six.

This is a lovely piece of animation, full of a contagious joie de vivre. As a degree thesis it is excellent and must indicate a very bright future for Mr Vinson in the animation industry.
