Ice Cold in Alex(andra Palace)

As the winter weather continued in the UK and many people continued to up the hyperbole to new levels (including words that cannot be repeated on a nuclear, extended or even pretend family-friendly website such as this)sometimes people need showing what cold really looks like.

This picture was taken during the First Australasian Antarctic Expedition, 1911-1914. Now, even the penguins look as if they are suffering from the cold there.  The penguin chick is moulting or losing juvenile feathers which probably made it even worse for the poor little thing.  Aaaw.
