Redesign for the BP Logo to Reflect Deepwater Horizon
The Deepwater Horizon crisis, which just seems to go on and increase in its severity as every day goes by, is making people very angry – and who can blame them? Some will demonstrate, others will write letters. The good people over at the Draplin Design Company have turned their own talents to satire. The BP logo may be ripe for it, but these alternatives are so well done that maybe they should be adopted by British Petroleum in the near future. These are a few of their ideas, you can find the others on their website.
As the Gulf of Mexico quickly becomes a dead zone there is more than a little irony in the fact that it is the remains of animals who died so many millions of years ago that are now making the area uninhabitable from the species that inherited the world from them. We hear that BP are already making legal moves to restrict the amount of litigation that will be thrown at them, certainly in terms of how much compensation they will have to pay out.
Who can say what figure should be put on ruined livelihoods and extinct species? No doubt the former will be settled and people will be awarded some money for their means of earning a living disappearing in big oily globules. As for the threatened species, many of which were hanging on by a thread anyway, if (if!) BP has contributed to the extinction of a species then it should, it must go the way of the dinosaur and the Dodo itself.
